This process of asking you questions is a NEEDED process to get a feel for what your likes and dislikes are concerning your web site, what you want it to be. Quality: Here at TK Web Designs we make all our pages using the "XHTML" language. This is the Premier language for making web sites now being used. We also validate our pages to make sure that they meet our high standards. This might seem harder to do for some web designers out there, but there the ones who like to take short cuts. We will never take those short cuts, with us, making "Quality" web sites and making them to your satisfaction is our number 1 goal.

Where a lot of other designers make their pages using the regular "HTML" language, we know that that language is now considered "Outdated". The "W3C", (The W3C is a group of computer experts who govern what standards are allowed on the World Wide Web), has stated that in the upcoming years the regular "HTML" language will be changed to the "XHTML" language. Most of the tags now being used in "HTML" will be depreciated in the new browsers when these standards will be implimented. In other words, if your building web sites and not using the "XHTML" language, you run the risk of the web site NOT being seen by the new browsers.

So, that being said, when the new browsers start making it into the homes and businesses and your site isn't using the "XHTML" language, it might not be seen and have to be totally redone by somebody that knows the language and how to update your site to these standards, costing you money. That's why it's better to use the language NOW. This is not "NEW" news to web designers out there, XHTML has been around for 10 years now. Web Designers, at least the good ones have been using it for that long. If a "Professional Web Designer" isn't using it, he's probably just after YOUR money. Because he obviously doesn't care about the quality of his work.

If this is too technical for you, look at it this way. In February 2009 the FCC has stated that all television companies will HAVE to broadcast their signals using a, "Digital" signal. This allows for a better signal, and your able to transmit things in "High Definition". Now if you have an old regular "Analog" TV, you might not be able to view TV anymore without an adaptor of some kind that will allow your TV to see the digital signal. Now, you can think of the regular "HTML" coding as the old, "Analog" signal. It's going to be outdated and is going to be replaced by a better signal, "Digital" or "XHTML" in the example here. Iin the future the HTML will all be replaced by the "High Definition", "XHTML" coding.

Original Designs: Here at TK Web Designs we don't use premade templates, or programs like "Netobjects". Netobjects is a program that comes with premade templates, it's a "Web Site Making Program" in other words. And this program DOESN'T make pages using the "XHTML" language. People might change the colors and some graphics on them, but essentially, there still "Premade" by someobdy else and just being "Refurbished" by another designer. In other words, we're not going to use a program like that, and charge you the same price as a "NEW" site would cost.

Site Submission and .com name: With us the submitting your site to search engines and getting your .com name is always free. These things are very easy to do, and take about 10 minutes or under each, why should you be charged for that? We will show you how to get your own .com name, this is VERY easy to do. But if you want us to do it, we will of course do it, it cost under 10 dollars and is always included in the price.

Search Engine Optimization: Submitting your site to a search engine is also very easy to do. One thing that I have noticed while searching other web designers and the sites they make is the way they make their web sites. Search engine spiders work by looking for 4 major things on a web site, or web page. If you don't have these on your web page it can make a BIG difference. When somebody puts something on a search engine and they start looking for web sites, 1000's might show up. If your web site doesn't have at least 3 of these 4 points for the search engine to find, it can mean the differnce between your site being listed in the top 100, or the bottom 1000, where would you like your site listed? Here at TK Web Designs we try and make sure each site we make has at least 3 of these points of interest, but we always try and shoot for 4. This will optimize your ranking on any given search engine, like "Google" for example.

No overloading: Here at TK Web Designs we know the importance of paying attention to YOUR site when you hire us. We will never overload ourselves with more work than we can handle. This allows us to spend the time needed to make your site quickly and efficiently without rushing it through, spending the time that your site deserves.

How long will it take? There is no "Set" time for building a web site. The time it takes is usually around 1 to 2 weeks, or somewhere in that area. But it can take longer depending on how much graphic and flash work and stuff like that are needed. "But some web designer say they can make my web site in a couple of days?" Well you have to look at the quality of the work. Most of these designers are using premade templates and programs like "Netobjects" to make your site. Most of them aren't making them using the XHTML language, or validating their pages. If their using premade templates, I even know one who says, "you can choose from one of my "Custom" premade templates". This is not a "One of a Kind" web site, their offering it to other people too, and you run the risk of somebody else having the same web site as you do, just different words in it. And you have to ask yourself this question too, if somebody is going to make you a web site that fast, then why are they charging you that much? The hours of work they put into it isn't that much? A good, "Professional" web designers will take that long to make the web site, quality work takes time.

Look at it this way, if you want to buy a new, NICE car, like a Corvette. You can buy one off the lot and it will be nice, but you can pull into a parking lot and find another one that looks just like it, like thousands of others out there. But if you want a custom one made, you have to order it, this will take time. Because they have to do all the custom work to make it a "ONE OF A KIND" car for you. And they have to make sure everything in it works they way it should, not only when you get it, but in the years to come after you get the car. They have to make sure the the "QUALITY" is there that you paid for and expect. This will assure that it will still be worth the money you put into it not only NOW, but in the years to come.

We use a combination of hands on and editors, which most "Professional Web designsers" do. There are some web designers out there who complain about this saying it takes more time. First: These are the guys that don't know how to code in the first place. Second: If they did they would know that it doesn't take that much more time. Why? Because when you know how to code you can usually get it right the FIRST time out, you don't have to go back and figure out what went wrong with the code and then try and figure out how to fix it. But if you do, you know how to fix it and get it done FAST. Third: Most of them don't do the quality work expected from a "Good Professional Web Designer". Most of them don't validate their web pages to make sure their web pages are up to code. Which is why they say that in the first place. If they post that on their web site it is the ONLY reason they say it. I do know of one who says this: "The W3C standards mean nothing if the customer doesn't know what the hell you are talking about and they just want a pretty and ez to navigate websites." This person is ONLY after your money, he doesn't care about the quality of his work at all. He might be faster, but is the quality there? This person also doesn't know how to code and ONLY uses and editor, which is why he say's on his site that there is no real reason for hand coding, because he can't hand code. Comparing it would be something like this: Would you get on an airplane with a pilot that only knew how to fly using a simulator, or one that actually KNEW how fly the plane?

Web Design Knowledge: I personally have been making web sites for 10 years. I started making web sites in 1998, then I went to school for web design starting in 2003 and ending in 2007. Through a combination of "Hands on", "School", and "Discussing" web design with other web designers. I've learned what works and what doesn't, and use that knowledge to make you the best web site possible.

I've learned that certain colored backgrounds against a certain colored text are hard to see with older people, (People over 50), and people with vision problems. Why is this important? Simply put, these are usually the CEO's of businesses or the ones who decide where their money is going to be spent. Simply put, if they can't see it, they will go to a site they can see. I've actually seen some web designers make ENTIRE sites using this color combination. I learned that certain colors can work against you. There's one color that if you use it to much can actually make people angry. This is the same color of just over 90% of the cars that have been attacked by "Road Rage". I've actually seen web designers make entire sites using this color too.

Knowing your target audience: This is a big one. Although we always try and make sure all the web sites we make work with all the browsers out there, there is one that we MAKE SURE that our sites work well with. It's the most common browser in the world and around 95% of the people in the world use THIS browser. One "Web Desinger told me this, "I don't care about Microsoft, I only use Firefox". Which I found extremly hard to believe coming from a "Web Designer" when the Firefox browser is only being used by just under 3% of the people in the world. We always try and make the web site for the people and age group that are going to veiw the site.

Load Time: This one is a big one also, if your web page doesn't load in a timely manor, the person waiting for it to load might just leave. Here at Tk Web Designs we know how important this is and are always keeping an eye on it. We know how many, "Bytes" or, "How Big", a graphic should be, and the max it should be. We will never go over that amount on an image. We check all the images before putting them on a web page to make sure they do not go over that amount of Bytes. After all content is on the page and ready to be published we run the page on different browsers and check the load time, just to make SURE the page will load in so many seconds. That's right, I said seconds, there should never be any minutes involved here. We know that most people that are not on high speed hate flash because of the load time. Which is one of the reasons we use it sparingly. A flash intro should be treated no different, ours is set to load and move you to the homepage in just over 15 seconds. I've seen another web designer make a flash intro that took almost 2 minutes to load and 4 minutes to play, and this was on a high speed modem, not dial-up that would have taken longer for sure. We know what the load times should be, and try to pay strict attention to make sure our pages load in that time.

How much will it cost? Here at TK Web Designs we don't have any set prices or plans, please use our Contact page to get a free quote. We know that every web site is different and takes a different amount of work. Although prices generally start around that $500 dollar mark and will go up, there are no "Set" prices here. Lets put it this way, lets say we had a plan for a 5-6 page web site for 1,200 dollars. If you check around I think you will see that is about the going price. Now somebody comes in and we make him a 5 page web site in a week. This required extensive work and a lot of graphics being made and scripting, and flash, and we earned that money.

Now you come along and want a 5 page web site made. And we're able to make it in 4 to 5 days. It only takes 75% of the work that the other web site did. Now do you think it's fair for us to charge you the same amount for making your web site as we did for making that one? Well we don't either, yet you see it all the time with other web designers. They have a package and they are going to charge you the same as they would of any other site they made, even if they don't have to do as much work.

Another thing they have in their package deals are "pop email accounts". They will offer you 20 or so in the package. Studies have shown that the average business only need 3 to 4 email accounts, some as little as 2. So what about the other 16? Do you get a refund if you don't use them? Or as we have stated ealier, what if you get your own .com name and submit your own site to search engines, will you get a refund on them if you don't use them either? With us we will go through your site with you, asking you what you will need, and then putting them in. Not making you pay for something your not going to use. My partner has his own server and will be more than happy to host your site and work with you on the bandwidth and email accounts. We will do all the work of setting the account up with everything you will need to make your site run smoothly. Installation of the site is always free.
